Sealants don’t require special care. Continue your regular brushing, flossing, and dental checkups to maintain oral health and prolong the sealant’s effectiveness.
The tooth surface is cleaned, dried, and treated to help the sealant bond. Then, the liquid sealant is applied and hardened with a special light.
In some cases, sealants are recommended for baby teeth, especially if they have deep grooves. They help prevent early decay and promote better oral health as permanent teeth come in.
Sealants are usually clear or tooth-colored, making them virtually unnoticeable, especially on back teeth.
Many insurance plans cover dental sealants for children and teens. We recommend checking with your provider, and our office can assist with questions about coverage.
