Position : Registered Nurse (RN) – Med Surg/Telemetry
Location : Quincy, IL
Contract Duration : 13 weeks
Shift : 3x12s | Days or Nights
Shift Hours : 7:00 AM – 7:00 T4H259PM / 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Guaranteed Hours : 36 hours/week
Charting System : Allscripts – Sunrise
Trauma Level : Level 2

• Unit Name : Med Surg/Telemetry – Inpatient Surgical – 3rd Floor
• Number of Beds : 48 (across two buildings)
• Nurse:Patient Ratios :
  • Days: 1:4–6
  • Nights: 1:5–6
  • LPN support available
  • Virtual nurses assist with admissions/discharges
  • Primary care nursing model commonly used
• Monitor Techs : Present. RNs must interpret strips (Draeger monitors)

• Neuro: Laminectomy, cervical fusion, lumbar epidural steroid injections (LESI)
• Surgical: Ostomies, hernia repairs, joint replacements (total hips/knees), belly surgeries
• Vascular: Fem-pop bypass, dialysis catheter insertion, BKA/AKA
• Other: TPN, lipids, PICC lines, sepsis, chronic pain, IV antibiotics, PCA, epidurals, urgent OR cases
• Dialysis Unit is on the same floor

• Minimum 1 year of recent surgical experience
• Must have total joint and TPN/lipid experience
• Comfortable with PCA pumps, narcotics, reversal agents (Narcan), and sepsis management
• Drips: Heparin titrated per protocol

• BLS (AHA) – Required
• NIHSS – Required

• Shifts : 3x12s starting at 7:00 AM or PM
• Scheduling : No block scheduling; 6-week schedules
• Weekend Requirement : Every other weekend (Saturday & Sunday)
• Holiday Requirement : Part of the core staff rotation
• On-call : None
• Floating : To similar units only. If floated to higher acuity, will not take full patient load
• Scrub Color : Black (Scrubs not provided)

• May receive 8–12 surgical admits/day
