Department of Pesticide Regulation’s (DPR) Worker Health and Safety (WHS) Branch is looking for a Staff Toxicologist (Specialist) for the Human Health Mitigation Program (HHMP). Mitigation of human health risks involves protecting workers and the public by developing measures to reduce unacceptable exposures and hazards associated with pesticide use. HHMP takes a multi-disciplinary approach to developing risk mitigation strategies by collecting and evaluating data from various sources including local, state, and federal entities. These strategies involve comprehensive evaluations of pesticide use practices and label requirements, assessments of risk, and, if necessary, development and implementation of risk mitigation measures. The Staff Toxicologist (Specialist) independently provides expert scientific support and analysis in the areas of toxicology, human risk assessment, exposure assessment, and exposure monitoring, and conducts a variety of difficult tasks directly related to the development of mitigation strategies for pesticides.
