Senior Analysis Engineer

Agile Space Industries, Inc. (AGILE) designs, builds, and tests in-space propulsion systems for satellites and spacecraft. AGILE uses state of the art 3D metal alloy printing techniques to rapidly design, manufacture, and test new engine designs in our purpose-built propulsion test facility. With over a decade of experience testing rocket engines, and engineers who have worked at industry leaders like Blue Origin, SpaceX, NASA, and Aerojet Rocketdyne, AGILE is a rapidly growing company with many exciting Defense, Civil and Commercial programs.

AGILE is headquartered in Durango, CO with a facility in Mount Pleasant, PA and growing presence in Tulsa, OK. The CEO, CFO and CCO are based around Boulder, CO.

Position Overview

Agile Space Industries is seeking a Senior Analysis Engineer onsite in beautiful Durango, CO. The Senior Analysis Engineer is a key member of the Agile team that will need to solve highly complex technical aerospace and mechanical engineering problems. This engineer will have ownership for predicting the performance and reliability of Agile's products by applying computational analysis and mathematical modeling. The ideal candidate for this role will have the technical experience to perform in-depth structural and thermal analysis of Agile's products, provide design feedback to propulsion engineers, interpret hot-fire test data and iterate to improve model accuracy, and provide technical guidance to junior engineers on computational analysis techniques. Critical skillsets being sought after are heat transfer, solid mechanics, finite element analysis, fracture analysis, programming skills, and system level modeling experience.

We are seeking a level III/IV Senior Analysis Engineer:

• Level III: Candidates should bring 4-8 years of relevant experience, demonstrating strong foundational skills and the ability to work independently.
• Level IV: Candidates with 8-12 years of experience are encouraged to apply, as they will be expected to offer advanced expertise and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed thermal and structural analysis of chemical rocket propulsion devices and systems
• Conduct static, dynamic, and transient finite element analyses at the component and assembly levels
• Conduct fatigue analysis of propulsion components and subsystems
• Perform system level modeling and analysis of propulsion systems
• Analyze fracture mechanics and crack growth in components and subsystems
• Analyze test data to anchor and improve models. Propose design and/or process changes based on analysis and test data interpretation
• Utilize Solidworks CAD, ANSYS analysis tools, and Python programming
• Prepare formal presentations and reports for customer communication and milestone reviews
• Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and analysts

Qualifications

• B.S. or advanced degree in related engineering or technical field
• 5+ Years of experience working on computational analysis of components and systems
• Experience with detailed finite element analysis of components and assemblies including but not limited to static structural, transient structural, random vibration, response spectrum, coupled thermal and structural, fatigue, and fracture analyses
• Experience using ANSYS simulation software
• Background in system level analysis of thermo-fluidic and mechanical systems
• Multi-disciplined engineer confident working through ambiguity and uncertainty across complex assignments
• Strong organization and time management skills
• Proactive and detail-oriented mindset

Preferred Skills

• Experience with computational fluid dynamics and/or fluid system modeling for internal flows
• Experience with reliability analysis and engineering
• Experience with acoustic modeling using FEA and/or CFD
• Experience working with and analyzing hypergolic propulsion systems
• Experience analyzing additive manufacturing materials

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

Employment Type: Exempt

Salary: $89,600-$144,000

Work Schedule: Full Time

Location: Onsite - Durango, CO
