Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED certificate
• Previous food service experience working in an institution or commercial establishment
• 18 years of age or older

Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Knowledge of kitchen equipment and food production procedures
• Ability to understand and follow instructions with standardized recipes, food preparation and safety procedures.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations
• Ability to promote teamwork and inte3ractions with fellow staff members

Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve quality food according to meal schedules and uniform recipes
• Store and handle food items and supplies and maintain a clean and organized storage
• Operate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety standards
• Follow established procedures to meet high standards of cleanliness, health/safety and reports any conditions that are not correctable to the director immediately
• Order necessary supplies
• Keep school building and grounds, including sidewalks, driveways and parking lots neat and clean.
• Perform preventative maintenance to ensure the comfort, health an safety of children and staff.
• Follow established procedures for locking, checking and safeguarding facilities
• Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures
• Follow established procedures to meet high standards of cleanliness, health and safety and report and conditions that are not correctable to the director immediately
• Perform other duties assigned. 

Physical demands/working conditions

Lifts/carries 10-320 pounds frequently, 30-45 pounds occasionally, more than 40 pounds infrequently with assistance. Pushing/pulling 10-35 pounds sporadically. Continual standing, walking, frequent stooping, bending, kneeling, bending, and twisting. Work indoors and outdoors in varying climate conditions. May be required to work more than 40 hours during the work week.
