Performs routine clinical and administrative duties in support of assigned area or office. Responsibilities include patient discharge functions such as review of after visit summary (AVS), future appointment scheduling, and referrals. Explains policies including all regulatory and financial consent forms and secures all required signatures. Verifies insurance benefits, obtains insurance cards, confirms coverage is active, and determines correct insurance filing order if multiple coverages exist. Obtains pre-certification and authorization. Provides exceptional customer service and ensures all questions and concerns are addressed timely and courteously. May guide patients to appropriate destinations for services. Collects patient out-of-pocket responsibility per collection guidelines and provides patient estimates as requested. Prepares and balances daily deposit of all payment collections. May schedule walk-in appointments and confirm physician and prescription orders ensuring accuracy. Interviews patients and guarantors to obtain necessary information including identification cards. Requires critical thinking, effective communication, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment. No prior work experience required. Can be graduate of accredited EMT or Medical Assistant program, possess Medical Assistant Registration or Certification, or have six months of patient care experience. Physical requirements include bending, stooping, kneeling, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching, sitting, standing, walking, and exposure to biohazards and biological hazards.
